Need to make plans with the kids for MLK Day? These local museums are coming to your rescue!

On Jan. 21, the following museums are offering free admission to Illinois residents: Adler Planetarium, Chicago History Museum, The Field Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry and Shedd Aquarium.

Some museums are also offering special programs to honor Martin Luther King Jr. At the Chicago History Museum, guests can see Writers Theatre's production of "The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights", and enjoy storytelling, live music and crafts. MSI will open its annual Black Creativity program with a community art experience during their Black Creativity Family Day. Find more Martin Luther King Jr. Day events for kids

The other museums still provide other great options for kids from the new sky show "Imagine the Moon" at Adler Planetarium to the new Sue exhibit at The Field Museum. For future museum free days, view our full list of 2019 dates.
