The Election of The 45th President of The United States Has Brought To Mind Quotes From Two Of Our Most Famous Presidents, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy.
“Be with a leader when he is right, stay with him when he is still right but leave him when he is wrong”
Abraham Lincoln
16th President.
“Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.”
John F. Kennedy
35th President
These quotes though almost 100 years apart, demonstrate the ongoing need for conscious, bipartisan efforts by our government officials. They need to know that regardless of political party, they have to do what is equitable for all Americans. It is their responsibility to acknowledge and uphold the Constitution and any laws enacted to protect and provide for the rights of all Americans, not just those of a certain race, gender, religious belief, sexual orientation or economic status.
In closing I will leave you with a quote by another famous American.
"Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced."
James Baldwin
