On This Day In Labor History - "The Founding Of The Union Voice On May 5, 1852." The Chicago Typographical Union Local #16 Became A Chartered Local of The International Typograpical Union In 1875.


It was the last day of a three-day convention held in Cincinnati, Ohio. Printers who worked for newspapers and other publications from fourteen cities had converged to decide if they wanted to form a union.Please Listen To Labor History Podcast Below:.
