TO:  All CWA Local 4250 Members and Retirees

SUBJECT: Resolution to Abolish the H-1B Visa Program

Delegates attending the 35th Biennial Convention of the Illinois AFL-CIO voted unanimously to adopt my resolution to Abolish the H-1B Visa Program on Friday, September 06, 2002. The Illinois State AFL-CIO is officially on record as the FIRST State AFL-CIO body to adopt such a resolution. Delegates of the 64th Annual CWA Convention adopted a similar resolution in June 2002. Therefore, the CWA has the distinction of being the FIRST International Union to adopt a resolution to Abolish the H-1B Visa Program. Our work has just begun, as YOU the member and retiree must immediately write  your U.S. Senator and Congressperson telling them to Abolish the H-1B Visa Program. The membership of CWA Local 4250 should be proud of their Local Officers, Executive Board Members and CWA Representative Teri Pluta, assigned to our Illinois CWA Office in Itasca, Illinois. Teri is a member of CWA Local 4202 in Lombard, Illinois and serves as a Vice-President on the Illinois AFL-CIO Executive Board. Teri was instrumental in getting me assigned to serve as a member of the Resolutions Committee of the 35th Biennial Convention of the Illinois AFL-CIO.     Again, a special thanks to all whom assisted me in this unprecedented action. It would never have happened without their help.

Fight Back:

Steve Tisza, President CWA Local 4250 – Chicago
