Letter from our District 4 RMC President Re: Open Enrollment for AT&T Retirees who chose United Healthcare Medicare Advantage Plan

Information from Marcy Gregory, District 4 RMC President

Next is Medicare Open Enrollment. October 15 thru December 7. For 2025, the average
Medicare part B cost will be $185 a month, and Social Security checks will increase 2.5%
(Average $50 a month) With AT&T/UHC Advantage Plan, there are a couple of changes. With
the hundreds of mail outs and no big book, here’s sort of what’s happening. Dependents will
pay $0 for their monthly fee, instead of $50. Yippee On the Medical side for 2025, we will have
$150 Deductible (new), almost all Copays have gone up, our primary care who was $0 will be
$20 each visit, but the Out of Pocket remains $900!! (this is the best news ever...can’t beat
it..most Advantage plan subscribers pay $3,000 to $5,000 OOP a year). The dental, optical &
hearing aid (plus) plan remains $50 each per month, and Care Plus will also remain the same
also. **AGAIN A FYI for MARRIED COUPLES on this Health Plan: Starting in 2024 and still
continuing, if an Employee Dies, the spouse can remain on this health insurance FOREVER...
Unless 1. If they get remarried or 2. If ANY BILLS incurred ARE NOT PAID. If that happens,
the insurance will be immediately CANCELED. My thoughts on this are that ALL bills your
spouse incurs should be set up on AUTOBANK DEBIT( where there is always money with no
chance of an overdraft....(eg. savings). Since in 2025 there will be no $50 monthly health care
charges, there are still many who have the Plus Plans or Care Plus, so be sure and get this set
up immediately. DO NOT overlook Care Plus because you pay yearly. Change it to an
AutoBank Debit NOW. If you miss the January bill, or forget to pay, you WILL BE CANCELED.
Any questions call me 419 277-7684 Also with this insurance we have Prescription Drugs.
Next year there will be a $590 Deductible (new) Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, the Out of
Pocket cost has gone down from $6,000 to $2,000 and our 5 drug tiers have disappeared. Now
the free drugs are Tier 1, and all other drugs will be 25% after the deductible has been met, and
Zero after $2,000. This gets a lot trickier, but this is what’s happening all over. If a member has
costly meds, I’d suggest calling after open enrollment with all of their meds and having UHC
give them an estimate of charges. 888 803-9234 Any problems, let me know., and we’ll get
them some assistance. **Two new services have also been offered for a fee. Legal Planning
and ID Watchdog News. to compare services and prices call Union Plus 800 472-2005. Sign up
must be done by Dec 7. Lastly, Grandfather members had a few minor changes, but their
prescription tiers have also changed like ours and most did nationally!. Lots to take in. Hope I
covered the most important.
