"UPDATE" 2009 Version of the Trade Reform Accountability, Development and Employment (TRADE) Act

The time for comprehensive fair trade reform is upon us: the 2009 version of the Trade Reform Accountability, Development and Employment (TRADE) Act will be introduced into Congress shortly after the spring recess (April 6-April 17.)The TRADE Act lays out a new way forward for U.S. trade policy to achieve important goals such as creating good jobs, ensuring food safety, as well as promoting basic human rights, healthy communities and environmental protection. We've attached here a fact sheet outlining the TRADE Act and the actual text of the House version of the bill. Many of you worked alongside us last year to make the 2008 TRADE Act a huge success that won the co-sponsorship of 82 Senators and Representatives. Dozens of freshmen members of Congress campaigned on a progressive trade reform platform bringing us an tremendous opportunity to increase congressional support for the TRADE Act.
