On Saturday, September 1, 2018, Chicago Alderwoman Susan Garza Will Host The Historic Southeast Side Labor Day Parade

On Saturday, September 1, 2018, Chicago Alderwoman Susan Garza will host the historic Southeast Side Labor Day Parade. Located on the far southeast side of Chicago, the parade will run north from 112th and Ewing Ave towards 100th and Ewing Ave, ending at Calumet Park. The Southeast Side Labor Day Parade is an old 10th Ward tradition, which celebrates union pride and working class solidarity, making this a true community event.


The S.E Side Labor Parade will be accompanied by the one day Labor Day Festival organized by Friends of Labor. The Labor Day Fest will take place at Calumet Park on Sept. 1st from 1:00PM-10:00PM. Entertainment will include community bands, Life Band, Phil Angotti, Echoes of Pompeii, a laser and firework show. The Labor Day Festival will also feature drink/ food vendors, and a ‘Kids Zone’ equipped with Barboo the Clown, face painting, ballooning, bounce houses, obstacle courses, and games! This is reminder that  Alderwoman Sadlowski Garza's Southeast Side Labor Day Parade will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, starting promptly at 11:00 AM. 


Staging Instructions: Non-parade vehicles are not allowed in the staging area. Formation check- in begins at 9:00 AM and closes promptly at 10:30 AM on the day of the parade. Entries arriving after 10:30 AM will not be eligible to participate. There will be a check- in table at 4059 E. 112th St (Egger's Woods). Each entry will receive an 'Entry number', which should be displayed on your vehicle's dashboard. 

Parking and Transportation: Secure parking will be provided for all parade participants. A shuttle bus will be running from 8:45AM- 10:30AM transporting participants from our designated parking area at Calumet Park (9841 S. Avenue G) to the staging area at Egger's Grove. Please see the attached map.


Dispersal:  The Southeast Side Labor Day parade will disperse at Calumet Park (9841 S. Avenue G). Floats will not be allowed to turn right on E. 100th St. They must enter Calumet Park through the North Entrance (95th and Ewing Avenue). The parade will be accompanied by the one day Labor Day Festival organized by Friends of Labor. The Labor Day Fest will take place at Calumet Park from 1:00PM-10:00PM. Live music will include South Chicago favorite Life Band, Phil Angotti, Echoes of Pompeii, a laser and firework show. The Labor Day Festival will also feature drink/ food vendors, and a ‘Kids Zone’ equipped with Barboo the Clown, face painting, ballooning, bounce houses, obstacle courses, and games! 


*Each applicant shall be responsible for the conduct of each and every one of its participants and agrees to notify each and every participant of these Rules & Regulations. The 10th Ward Office has the right to deny the participation of any entry or person failing to comply with these Rules & Regulations and/or which does not serve the purpose of the parade. 10th Ward Office has the right to refuse any additions to your unit that was not listed on your parade entry application.*
