Southeast Side Labor Day Parade - Saturday, September 2, 2017 @ 11:00am Presented By 10th Ward Alderwoman Susan Sadlowski Garza & Friends of Labor!

The Southeast Side Labor Day Parade is an old 10th Ward tradition, which celebrates union pride and solidarity, a true community event. The parade is organized and ran by my hard working staff and volunteers from across the 10th Ward. Parade units consist of dedicated Unions such as Iron Workers Local 63, Sprinkler Fitters Local 281, UFCW Local 881, and IBEW Local 134 to name a few, along with neighborhood schools, local businesses, and non-profits.

You may think of Labor Day as the end of summer fun or the start of a new school year; however, Labor Day is an American holiday that celebrates and honors the contributions of working class people.

The first "East Side Labor Parade" was held on the Southeast Side of Chicago back in 1959, we have revitalized an old tradition, celebrating unions and workers, in the past, present, and future

"We work hard all year long and so we're going to give ourselves a pat on the back... It's about camaraderie and bringing people together to fight for good working conditions, a living wage and a safe place to live."  - Susan Sadlowski Garza

Meet fellow Union Members at the CWA Local 4250/CTU #16 Union office at 10am on Saturday, September 2nd OR meet up with us at 11am on the parade route. September 2, 2017 at 11:00 am on E. 112th Street down Ewing Avenue Chicago, Illinois

On Labor Day weekend in a gorgeous lakefront park in Southeast Chicago, labor unions and their families from all over Illinois and Indiana come together in solidarity and support of Organized Labor and of the American middle-class way of life with the CFOL Festival, presented by the Chicago Friends of Labor Organization.

In addition to the festival, the annual Southeast Side Labor Day Parade, which was revived to much community fan-fare by 10th Ward Alderwoman Susan Sadlowski Garza will be held earlier that morning, celebrating community and labor.

In Solidarity
